Basel Social Club (The Office)

For Basel Social Club 2026, Bombon proposes the artists Pere Llobera, Bernat Daviu and Josep Maynou.

This proposal revolve around alienation as a structural condition of contemporary labor culture. Through installations, paintings, and objects, the project explores how systems of productivity, discipline, and normalization extend beyond the workplace to shape subjectivity, language, and everyday behavior.

Bernat Daviu’s Waiting Room, conceived as a site-specific installation, transforms the exhibition space into an environment of suspended time. Time no longer follows a materialistic, productive flow, allowing the senses to expand and opening up new possibilities of being.

In dialogue with this framework, the works of Pere Llobera and Josep Maynou address alienation through repetition, simulation, and embodied control. Llobera’s recurring figures and visual metaphors expose obedience and fabricated discourse as core mechanisms of the system, while Maynou’s exploration of corporate aesthetics with office suits on large-scale carpets, highlights how bodies and identities are disciplined through design and routine.

Together, the works form a concise portrait of contemporary alienation, where control operates subtly through familiarity, comfort, and repetition.
