Between Memory and Colour

Exhibition of Senegalese artist Modou Gueye at the Villa del Arte gallery in the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. Born in Pikine, Senegal in 1996 and trained at Mo d'Art in Lomé, Togo, Gueye's intensely coloured figurative paintings draw on the nattes (traditional woven mats) of Senegal as symbols of identity, memory and heritage. He has exhibited at the Dak'Art Biennale and AfriKin Art Miami.
