A Modern Mythology

Solo show of contemporary artist Augustina Droze (USA, 1981) at Villa del Arte, Passeig de Gràcia 38-40, Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. Known for vibrant, swirling paintings that use animals as symbolic narrators of her lived experience as a foreigner, Droze -- who spent a decade in Beijing and is now based in Barcelona -- weaves East and West into a modern mythology within dream-like, Rococo-inspired compositions. Her work has been exhibited at the Castellani Art Museum, Banaras Hindu University (Fulbright Senior Scholar), the Beijing US Embassy (Distinguished Art Envoy), the London Biennale, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Carrousel du Louvre.
