Territories of the Invisible

Sol Namgung Everything on the canvas is symbolised pictorial language. Images are certain, but the stories they contain are uncertain. Or vice versa. The images reflect the composition of certain perceptions that are written in colours and shapes. The colours reveal temperature and atmosphere. The silhouettes embody the forms. And the texture of the colours is the time and movement of painting. A picture gives an idea of how something looks or what something is like. My pictures are based on the afterimages that lingered on my sight. These afterimages are the essence of what I have seen. The afterimages are the shapes of the world the way I want to see them. What I saw creates what I have not yet seen. The newly created images reconstruct my vision. The forms and colours outside are transformed into the composition of the pictures inside. A picture is a shadow of perception. Painting itself is a conversation about the perceived world. A picture is a closed space toward an open vision. And it reveals a certain uncertainty. Les imatges reflecteixen la composició de certes percepcions escrites en colors i formes. Els colors revelen temperatura i atmosfera. Les siluetes encarnen les formes. I la textura dels colors és el temps i el moviment de la pintura. Una imatge dona una idea de com és alguna cosa o de com sembla. Les meves imatges es basen en les imatges persistents que han quedat a la meva vista. Aquestes imatges residuals són l’essència del que he vist. Són les formes del món tal com vull veure’l. El que he vist crea el que encara no he vist. Les imatges novament creades reconstrueixen la meva visió. Les formes i els colors de fora es transformen en la composició de les imatges de dins. Una imatge és una ombra de la percepció. Pintar és, en si mateix, una conversa sobre el món percebut. Una imatge és un espai tancat cap a una visió oberta. I revela una certa incertesa.
